About us ~ Our story

He ~ Roger Brockway has degrees in both Building Construction Management and Business Administration. He has been in the construction business since 1984 and has specialized in residential carpentry as the owner of ARB Construction from 1990 to 1999. He has been involved in many different projects such as remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, installing new and recycled doors and trim, exterior restorations and custom cabinet construction and modification.

Her ~ Abby Brockway has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Cornish College of the Arts. Her love of paint and passion for color led to the formation of A. Castle Painting in 1995. Her whimsical artistic flair and relationships with other artists fueled her interest in decorative wall finishes. Her specialties include color-consulting, painting, plaster finishes, stenciling and children’s rooms. Her artwork has been shown at the Gunnar Nordstom Gallery, the Tacoma Art Museum, the Warwick Gallery and several cafés and businesses.

He Saw Her Paint….

He Saw Her Paint was born in 1999, at the same time our daughter was born, the result of merging our two previously separate companies. At that time, we both realized so clearly we needed what the other person had for our businesses to reach their potential, Roger’s organized linear thinking and Abby’s wild artistic ideas. Although these marked differences in our basic natures cause some friction, the whole is much greater than the parts.

We have included our daughter Sienna (yes she is named after the color) in our business. She is head of promotions for He Saw Her Paint and participates in the business by baking cookies and creating cards to thank customers and suppliers. On the occasions when she accompanies us on potential customer jobsite visits, she definitely earns her salary.
